Elect Maya: a future-focused vision to strengthen King County
"With decades of public service and leadership experience, I am honored to run for King County Council, serving District 7. As a 33-year resident of Kent, a former United Way economic empowerment volunteer in Federal Way, and a proud mother of an Auburn Mountainview High School graduate, I’ve seen how the needs in our community have changed while other leaders have been happy with the status quo.
I’m running to make King County more responsive, more transparent and more inclusive. My campaign is about change, and my promise to address the concerns facing our communities every day. I respectfully ask for your vote so we can move forward to a new future.”~ Maya
Maya’s Commitments
Make Every Dollar Count in King County.
I will directly and transparently address the county’s $160-$180 million shortfall with smarter budgeting, tax relief for working families and small businesses, and a clear line of sight between what we pay and what we get for our communities.
Open The Door to New Leadership
Fresh ideas come from fresh voices. I support term limits to ensure our council continues to be accountable and reflects the evolving needs of our communities —not just the status quo.
Partner With Parents, Strengthen Our Schools
As a former school board director, I know how vital it is to include parents in decision-making. I’ll champion government transparency, educational excellence, and meaningful collaboration between families, nonprofits, and schools. A strong education leads directly to economic opportunity, and I’ll continue to build a bridge to a secure future for working families.
New Approaches to Big Challenges
My experience in housing organizations focused on finding solutions to improve affordability and reduce homelessness by finding efficiencies. I am committed to finding new solutions with the resources we have today. I will prioritize effective, economically sustainable policies that increase housing access and support sustainable development.
Prioritize Safety With Compassion and Clarity
Everyone deserves to feel safe. I’ll work to enforce existing laws, support accountable law enforcement, expand access to treatment, and invest in housing solutions that help people rebuild their lives.
Let’s Build a County Government That Works For Everyone
This campaign isn’t about slogans. It’s about service. As an Independent Democrat, I bring a values-driven approach. In this nonpartisan race, I’ve chosen not to seek endorsements by any political party, instead focusing on building relationships. I am honored to receive self-initiated endorsements from across District 7.
My campaign is built on listening, local accountability, and ensuring every neighborhood in District 7 is represented. By not seeking endorsements and believing in term limits, I’m running to represent you, not special interests. I’m committed to making King County more responsive, more equitable, and more effective.
